Not another "accident" as cyclist killed by truck

Flowers & photo

Sebastian Lukomski, a 27 year old Pole who was working for Anderson Young as a cycle courier, was killed by a left turning tipper lorry just before 9am on Monday 24 February. He will be very much missed by his friends, especially those in London's courier community, and family.

Flowers, personal messages, a bike light and an empty bottle of Polish vodka with a traditional glass have been left as a very moving memorial at the site where he was killed - the junction of Upper Thames Street and Queen Street Place [map].

There is already an internet memorial for him.

Friday's Critical Mass met up with couriers outside the Duke of York before continuing on to the spot where he was killed.

A couple of hundred cyclists brave the freezing February cold - probably one of the biggest winter Critical Masses London has ever seen - while going up Ludgate Hill to St Paul's.

A moment's remembrance for Seb from his friends and colleagues.

The next day people gathered again at the Duke, where Seb himself used to visit regularly, before moving off together to the Polish Church near Angel.

The cycle crossing at Angel is even more crowded with cyclists than usual,

A very moving memorial service was held in Polish for Seb: Czesc jego pamieci (Honour/Respect to his memory).

New page on lorries and why they kill so many cyclists
