The remains of the London Cycle Network

routes :: LCN+ :: old LCN :: map

One of the key parts of the City Cycling Plan was completion of the LCN by 2005, which was. The LCN routes were planned in the 1990s

stone age cycle marking

On pressing the Corporation what was being done, City Cyclists were told to our great surprise that the LCN was in fact "complete" in the City. Requesting clarification, we were then told that most of it was on the LCN+ anyway which was being dealt with. On pointing out that there were in fact a number of sections that weren't on the LCN+ we were then told that "Oh well we've done what we can".

The Corporation has, yet again, given scant consideration to its cycling policies. Anyone trying to follow an LCN route in the City will at best find no signage to guide them (just three cycle route direction signs in the whole City) at worst end up being killed such as Jason Wong who lost his life on the four lane St Paul's gyratory in May 2005, supposedly a completed LCN route.

Route 0: Stations Circular (Moor Lane to Gresham St)

From flagship to farce: our report on how this route has been given up on in 2006 despite being proposed for completion by 2003/4.

Unclear whether LCN or LCN+ as it does not appear on some maps for the latter.

From Gresham St the route is shared with the LCN+ in any event.
